About The Breed

Golden Retrievers

Golden Retrievers were developed in Scotland by breeding various Retrievers, Spaniels and the Red Setter to retrieve waterfowl and upland game birds as well as being perfect companions. Golden Retriever's were bred to have a friendly disposition, attractive appearance and high level of trainability which makes them a popular breed. They are recognized in the American Kennel Club as a Sporting dog breed and in the United Kennel Club as a Gun Dog breed.

A Golden Retriever that is to standard would be a medium-sized with a rich and luxurious golden double coat without exaggeration of features (hypertype). The importance of breeding two dogs that compliment and contrast their faults is breeding well-balanced dogs that will preserve and better the breed. A well-bred and properly cared for Golden shall have a friendly temperament reflected by a kind expression.

While some breeders focus on breeding Golden Retrievers as show dogs and family companions, we primarily focus on preserving the finer qualities and traits that make a perfect working and companion dog.

Owning a dog is not a privilege; it’s a responsibility. By purchasing a Golden Retriever from Espoir Goldens, we expect you to care for your dog according to their individual needs. Each of the dogs we own have their own individual routines determined by their energy, drive, temperament and health.
